Protecting Our Work
Protecting Our Work – Is The Anything We Can Do?
In short, the answer is no.
Because there’s nothing to prevent a determined and knowledgeable person from using our work in unauthorized ways.
And when that happens it’s known as committing “copyright infringement”.
However, protecting our work from unauthorized use is a valid concern.
Because if we publish our work, It’s not a matter of “if” it happens, It’s a matter of “when” it happens.
In fact, it has happened with my work on at least a few occasions.
Undoubtedly, there was nothing I could have done to prevent that.
However, there were things that I did to position myself to initiate a strong response to the infringement.
Protecting Our Work-Here’s Some Things We Can Do
Though, there’s nothing we can do to protect our work that doesn’t mean we can’t do something.
Because there are definitely steps we can take to be on the firm legal ground we need to be on to take action when an infringement does happen.
In short, we need to register the copyright to our work prior to publication.
