A Question From A Photographer.

Here it Is:
“I have a beautiful new DSLR camera but I’m mostly on auto mode because I don’t have to tweak all the settings. How do professionals set up their cameras for each shot?”

Here’s my Answer:
“Whether professionals or amateurs, I can’t speak for all photographers.

I prefer to work in manual exposure mode.

The first thing I do, after seeing and getting the impulse to create a photograph, is evaluate the light I’m working with in order to begin the process of composing the picture in my mind.

In terms of camera operation:

Part of the evaluation process mentioned above evaluation is metering with my camera to get an appropriate tonality/exposure.

How I “set up’ my camera is dependent on my intended composition.”
