How To Practice Photography Anytime and Anywhere
Some Background For Context
During week two of the Introduction to Photography class, we talk about depth of field, blur, and noise as additional elements of composition.
More importantly, we talk about the things in terms of camera operation. Specifically, aperture/f-stop, and ISO.
Furthermore, we relate camera operation to a composition. And, as usual, we practice in class, in whatever room we’re in.
The Anytime
The ‘anytime” I’m referencing for this post is time during a photography class.
But practicing photography during time spent eating breakfast will work too.
So will time spent doing the laundry for that matter.
Or just looking out a window.
Anywhere
The anywhere I’m referencing for this post is a small conference room.
But practicing photography can be done anywhere where we observe light.
Inside or outside, It doesn’t matter.
Because light is light.
But light has different characteristics.
And those characteristics can be studied and photographed anytime and anywhere we can observe light.
How To Practice Photography Anytime and Anywhere
OK. This is easy.
Because we practice photography by making a picture.
More specifically, we practice using whatever camera we have now. Even if it’s the camera on your phone. And we practice using our current skills as a photographer.
But practicing photography can be done anywhere we observe light.
Inside or outside, It doesn’t matter.
Because light is light.
But light has different characteristics.
And if we practice during a variety of times and in a variety of places then we become more aware of the variances in the characteristics of light.
So, go ahead. Make a photograph. Right now. Wherever you are.
