What was particularly galling, as noted in George Wills’ article, was the police threat to report the photographer to the FBI’s Terrorism Liaison Officer’s program, so that the photographer would be harassed every time he flew etc. That is precisely the kind of arrogance that drives me up a wall. It should be actionable. That is, if a government official (police etc.), acts outside the scope of his or her authority, they should be subject personally for civil and criminal sanctions.
