I was recently asked if I teach photography classes at night and I answered “yes, the classes that I teach in the evening start at 6:30 pm and usually end at 9:30pm.”
I misunderstood the question. The question was about whether I taught a class that specialized in creating photographs at night.
Do you really need a special class to learn about making pictures at night?
Not if you have a good understanding of the basics of photography.
At the core of things, photographing at night is no different than creating a photograph during any other time of day.
You need to carefully evaluate what you want to see in your picture and to pick your exposure setting to get the desired outcome.
Since you may be using slow shutter speeds you may want to steady your camera on something to avoid blur caused by camera shake.
