Unclear Photography Jargon

Stopping up and stopping down.

Opening up closing down.

Faster lens, slower lens.

Those are just some of the terms you may hear when photographers talk about photography.

To me, those terms are unclear photography jargon and the meaning of those terms can be taken in different ways.

All of those terms are references to exposure.

If we’re talkin’ about exposure, use the word exposure.

More exposure or less exposure.

Increasing exposure or decreasing exposure.

Nothing unclear about that.

If we wanna get more descriptive we can indicate what component of exposure we’re talkin’ about.

Aperture, shutter speed or maybe both.
