Five (5) Things To Practice With Whatever Camera We’re Using Right Now That Could Improve Our Photography.
- Seeing And Thinking.
- Framing And Content.
- Tonality.
- Focusing.
- Critiquing.
Five things. OK, there’s really seven but some are closely related so I combined ’em for efficiency. We could practice ’em separately by paying attention to a specific thing during the creation of a separate photograph that relates to the specific thing that we’re doing, or we could practice ’em together by paying attention to each specific thing during the creation of one photograph. I would consider each of these things to be a separate “function” of our “process of composition” as photographers.
We (photographers) all do these things, regardless of our camera. Eventually, I think that our practice should include all of them when creating a single photograph, but as stated previously they could also be practiced separately to strengthen our practice and application of a specific function of our process of composition.
