What distinguishes photography from other forms of art?

First, Is photography a form of art?
In short, I’d say yes.
And, as I’ve said before, whenever we express or apply our creative skill and create a form, we’re making something “artful”.
Specifically, I don’t care if we’re cooking, or writing, or talking, or painting or drawing/sketching, or making photographs. I think that almost everything we do can be considered a form of “art”.
The difference is in what we do.
For example, if we consider ourselves “artists”, we can talk about our means, or medium, of expression.
In other words, if we’re painters we can talk about what tools and processes we use while painting.
And the same goes for writers when it comes to their tools and process.
Additionally, if we’re an artist, we’ve got to be thoroughly familiar with the tools that we use and the process that we apply to create the work we wanna create within our chosen medium.
So…
What distinguishes photography from other forms of art?
In summary, it’s the tools and techniques that we use to fix an expression into a tangible form (a work of art).
And specifically what we do is we use a camera to make a recording of light.
However, while we all do the same thing it’s in the way that we do it that makes our “art” unique expressions.
