Learn To Think Like A Photographer

This class is now available on Sam’s Online Learning Platform For Photographers

  • Study and practice at your own pace.
  • Ask questions and get answers during your studies and practice.
  • The monthly subscription fee gets ya unlimited access to all content on Sam’s Online Learning Platform For Photographers.
  • $ 25.00 per month.

During The Learn To Think Like A Photographer class we’ll get into everything we do as photographers to create our photographs.  We’ll break down how we create a photograph step by step. When we break down and examine what we do as photographers we’ll be more involved in the composition. When we get involved in the process of composition we make better photographs.  During the class, we’ll think of our camera as a tool to create the best photographs that we possibly can. When we understand the tool that we work with then we’ll use that tool skillfully. When we do that, the camera becomes less important and our thought process becomes more important.

  1. I purchased a Minolta (20 Mega Pixels High Wi-Fi Digital Camera with 35x Optical Zoom, 1080p HD Video & 3″ LCD) to use on my recent vacation and realized my limitations while trying to use it to capture what my eyes were seeing. Do I need a real professional camera with lenses to swap in/out to make your classes worthwhile or will my simple camera do? I have another vacation next year and want to be better prepared with the Minolta or a different camera with more lens options. If I can learn to take great pictures with my Minolta that would be great. If I have to, I’m willing to go for something like the Canon Rebel T6… Please advise.

    1. Hi Jennifer.

Thank you for your interest in my photography classes.

If this is your camera, https://www.minoltadigital.com/cameras/minolta-mn35z-20mp-35x-optical-zoom-wi-fi-bridge-camera then your “simple camera” will be more than adequate for any of my classes.

Can you learn to take great pictures with your Minolta? Yup, you can.

Since your “simple camera” will allow you to work in manual exposure mode, you’ll be able to learn how to make the best pictures you possibly can with the camera that you currently have.

Please contact me if you have further questions or need some help in deciding which class would be most useful to you. A phome call would be preffered.

  2. I dont know anything about photography,I suddenly developed interest in it. How long will it take me to master the skills because I intend to make it a source of livelihood.

    1. If ya don’t know anything about photography how can you be sure you want to make it a source of livelihood?

Study and practice photography. Be a photographer first.

If you like being a photographer, then maybe you’d like being a professional photographer.

  3. I am very interested in taking your classes however, I am in a wheelchair and was wondering how accessible the building is where the classes are held? Thank You

  4. I am thinking I would like to take your photography class starting this Friday. I have been taking photos for many years and have stored on my computer. They are a combination of nature, travel and grandkids and family. also steet photography. I am rusty on manual procedures and would like to get back to those . Also I would like help sorting out photos and making afew books. Would your class be a start with either of these goals.

    1. Thank you for your interest in my photography classes, Alice.

The Introduction To Photography class that startsthis Friday,(https://samdamico.com/introduction-photography-washington-dc-photography-class/#upcoming-classes-price-and-registration)starting this Friday will help you with your concern about you being rusty on manual procedures and will help you to get back to those. We can talk about “sorting out photos and making a few books” during the Q&A times during our meetings but this is not the main objective of the class. Please give me a call at 202-531-2344 if you have further questions.

  5. Hello.
I am a beginner photographer who knows how to work the camera a bit, but would like to learn more about exposure, composition and lighting. I am interested on a fast workshop as I am leaving the country in two months. I would prefer 1:1 sessions. How much does it cost? When can we have these? and Where would we have the classes?

    Thank you.

    1. Thank you for your interest in my photography classes, Ms Mattoso.

The cost of 1:1 sessions start at $125.00 per hour. We would meet at a mutually agreeable time at a mutually agreeable location in Washington DC.

You can learn more about 1:1 sessions here —>https://samdamico.com/private-photography-lessons-tutoring-washington-dc-online/

Based on your statements I can also suggest these classes:

For Christmas I got a Canon Rebel T4i to take better pictures as I travel the world, Yes! I am retired. Now I want to capture my life on film, past, present, to the end.

    Thank You
