Learn To Think Like a Photographer

The Learn To Think Like A Photographer Photography class will get you thinking like a photographer and creating unique compositions.  And because you’ll begin associating camera operation with visual outcomes, composing pictures becomes more deliberate. Specifically, we’ll talk about and practice a compositional thought process that we can apply to any camera we use. We’ll also cover photography basics. Finally, we’ll practice what we talk about by relating what we do with our camera to what we think about during making the picture (composition). As a result, we’ll make better pictures, AND they’ll be uniquely your compositions because you’ll be using your unique mind to create the image.

About the Learn to Think Like a Photographer Class

In a nutshell, learning to “think like a photographer” is what this class is about. Specifically, we’ll talk about and practice a compositional thought process that we can apply to any camera we use. And during hands-on practice, we’ll apply what we covered while creating photographs with a deliberate thought process that will ensure compositions that are uniquely yours. Because whether our camera is the camera on our phone, a DSLR, or anything in between, we all engage the same thought process as photographers.

During The Learn To Think Like A Photographer class, we’ll get into everything we do as photographers to create our photographs. Furthermore, we’ll break down how we make a photograph step by step. We’ll be more involved in the composition when we break down and examine what we do as photographers. And, when we get involved in the design process, we make better photographs. During the class, we’ll consider our camera a tool to create the best pictures possible. When we understand the tool we work with, then we’ll use that tool skillfully. When we do that, the camera becomes less critical, and our thought process becomes more important.

What You’ll Learn During the Learn to Think Like a Photographer Class

The Learn To Think Like A Photographer class introduces a foundational compositional thought process you can apply when working with any camera. Because regardless of what camera we use, we all do the same thing when composing photographs. By the time the Learn To Think Like A Photographer class is over, participants will have a deliberate thought process involving them in every composition aspect. And as a result, they’ll create more thoughtfully composed and unique photographs and use their minds to create exciting and engaging pictures.

Some of the things you’ll learn:

  • An effective way to think about what we do when composing and creating pictures
  • Thoughtful and effectual composition, resulting in unique compositions
  • A valuable and constructive way to critique photography

How You’ll Learn  During the Learn to Think Like a Photographer Class
During Class

In short, you’ll learn by doing. This hands-on class will familiarize you with what we do as photographers. Additionally, we’ll go through the process of seeing something to photograph and learn how to think of how our camera affects our photograph’s composition while keeping compositional intent in mind.

  • While working with Sam, you’ll be introduced to “thinking like a photographer.” Also, while using your, you’ll be engaged in creating your picture.
  • You’ll be given “assignments” during the class because they’ll help solidify the course material.
  • This elementary class is geared toward photographers regardless of camera or experience.

How You’ll Learn After Class

Because your learning shouldn’t end when the class does,  Sam will guide students to continue practicing what was taught during the class.

Ashley says: “I really enjoyed the attention to detail during the class. It was a great starter class to learning how to work YOUR camera. I enjoyed the small class size which allowed for a lot of personal attention. It didn’t matter that everyone had a different camera because each person got the necessary attention to learn how to change everything on their camera.”

Nellie says: “Sam is able to explain the basics of photography, cameras and light in a way that is so much less complicated than beginners photography books. He’s a great teacher.”

  2. Hi, would you double check on the date for the 3rd Saturday in October.
I would like to register but the date may be wrong. I plan to register for the
Intermediate class but per your suggestion, I will take this class to make
sure it seems I am ready.
