Using Color Creatively

Light has color. We describe the color of light by the color temperature.

The  white balance setting on your camera determines how the color temperature of a light source records.

One option when picking a white balance setting on your camera is to get “color correctness”. Auto white balance will probably get you in the ballpark.

The other option is to choose a white balance setting will give you an intentional color shift.

In order to get intentional color shifts, I think it’s best to pick a white balance setting on your camera manually.

When you choose a white balance setting that will give you an intentional color shift, you  use color more creatively and you’ll  get color casts that  add another compositional dimension to your picture.
