Lodgepole Pine Trees Yellowstone National Park

Along the sides of the roads in Yellowstone National Park you’ll see many stands of Lodgepole pine trees (pinus contorta). What struck me visually about the stands of these tall, straight species of pine was the density of the forests as well as the difference in the tonality and width of the individual trees.
