Sam’s been a professional photographer since the mid-1980′s. He has photographed over 500 assignments for the New York Times and shown his photographs in art galleries. Does the instructor know how to teach?
You’ve probably had a professor who’s “book smart,” but can’t teach. Fortunately, Sam knows how to present his material so it’s easy to understand. He knows which topics tend to give students trouble, and he knows how to help you through them.
What is the instructor’s teaching style?
Sam’s been praised by students for his gentle, reassuring teaching style. While Sam has a syllabus and covers specific topics in every class, he’s very flexible. Questions About The Workshops
What experience or equipment do I need?
Most workshops that Sam offers require nothing more than your interest in how to create better photographs. Regardless of your level of experience, whether your choice of camera is a point and shoot or a fully manual SLR, chances are that there are workshops that you’ll find helpful. Film or digital capture are acceptable for all workshops. Please check the course descriptions for further details or contact Sam if you have questions.
Are the class sizes small or crowded?
It just makes sense: You learn more and get more individual attention in a smaller class. While other teachers may pile as many people into a class as they can fit, Sam limits his class sizes to just eight students so you get the time and attention you deserve.You’re paying for a spot in a class – wouldn’t you rather have 7 other students rather than 37?
Are the classes at a day, time and location that are convenient for you?
Sam holds his classes on evenings and weekends so you don’t have to juggle work, rush hour and other responsibilities. Classes are held in Adams Morgan, which is easily accessible by bus, car and Metro. Getting to the classes.
If you miss a class, do you have options?
Sam is flexible. If you miss a meeting during a workshop, you can make up that meeting – for free – the following month (or whenever that class is offered next). Only one meeting can be made up for free. If more than one meeting is missed there is a charge for making up the additional missed meetings. Making up missed meetings are contingent upon there being space in the class and if the class is still being offered. There are no guarantees that missed meetings can be made up.
Is the tuition reasonable and competitive? Is it easy and secure to sign up for classes?

Questions About What Happens After The Workshops – Continuing Your Education
If you want a refresher class, do you need to pay for another course?
Not with Sam. As long as the workshop is not full, Sam allows past students to drop in on a class they’ve taken for just $25. It’s a cheap and convenient way to get refreshed and inspired without committing to another 4-week class.
If you want help with a specific problem or want feedback on your work, do you need to pay for another class?
Not with Sam. Sam offers “online open forums” where you can show your work and get help and advice for a nominal fee. You’ll find this flexible, student-centered approach in everything Sam does.
Can you get individual instruction?
If you want one-on-one help or instruction, Sam will be happy to meet you at your convenience.
Can you get regular updates and ideas after your class concludes?
