This notice is intended to inform you of how to prepare for our first meeting.

IMPORTANT: Future e-mailings will be addressed to all participants in the class. To prevent blocking of the e-mail by any Spam filters, please add sam@samdamico.com to your address book and, if needed, please create rules to allow e-mails sent by sam@samdamico.com to be received.

Please bring the following to each of our meetings:

    1. Pen/pencil.
    2. Paper/notebook.
    3. Your camera and all other equipment that is relevant to the class .
    4. Your camera owner’s/instruction manual and any other manuals that are relevant to the equipment that you’ll be  using in class.
    5. At least one roll of 35mm color negative film or digital capture equivalent.
    6. Make sure that your camera and other equipment have  fresh batteries in them.
    7. Extra batteries for your equipment.

Some pre-start homework.

    1. If you’ve got your owner’s manual please become familiar with the following topics. For future reference please make note of the page numbers or bookmark the topics in your manual so we can easily reference them.
    2. If you don’t have an owner’s manual you may be able to download a copy of one if you go to the camera manufacture’s website. You can also try the following links. http://www.craigcamera.com/ib_index.htm or http://www.photobooksonline.com/books/instructions.html .
    3. If your camera is automatic with manual options, please review how to override ALL of your auto-functions, including auto-focus, so you can work your camera in fully manual mode.
    4. How to load film or media cards into your camera.
    5. How to set the ISO/ASA (film speed).
    6. How to set your aperture.
    7. How to set your shutter speed.
    8. Metering modes.
    9. Exposure modes.
    10. How to focus/Focusing Modes

During our class you will have access to an “online learning pod” that will reinforce the material that we cover during our meetings. The learning pod also provides a comments area that serves as an online class forum where you can ask questions and get answers in between class meetings. If you have a question in between meetings I will only answer questions that are asked through the online learning pod.

If you’d like to access the online learning pod that is related to your class, you must first register as a current student on the Sam D’Amico Photography website by using the form below.

After you are registered as a current student, and after our class starts, you’ll be placed in the appropriate content access level (after our class starts please allow up to 72 hours for your placement) .

After your registration and placement is complete you’ll be able to access your learning pod after you login by using the login area at the top of the sidebar to the right.

To insure that you that you will be able to access the material for your specific class, please register as a current student using your first name, last name and e-mail. Any registrations without all of this information will be deleted from the user database.
