How To Prepare For Your Upcoming Photography Class With Sam DAmico

This notice is intended to inform you of how to prepare for our first meeting. IMPORTANT: Future e-mailings will be  addressed to all participants in the class. To prevent blocking of the e-mail by any Spam filters, please add sam@samdamico.com to your address book and, if needed, please create rules to allow e-mails sent by sam@samdamico.com to be received.

For all in person classes and meetings Please bring the following to our first meeting: 1. Pen/pencil. 2. Paper/notebook. 3. Your camera and all other equipment that is relevant to the class . 4. Your camera owner’s/instruction manual and any other manuals that are relevant to the equipment that you’ll be  using in class. 5. At least one roll of 35mm color negative film or digital capture equivalent. 7. Make sure that your camera and other equipment have  fresh batteries in them. 8. Extra batteries for your equipment. Some pre-start homework. If you’ve got your owner’s manual please become familiar with the following topics. For future reference please make note of the page numbers or bookmark the topics in your manual so we can easily reference them. If you don’t have an owner’s manual you may be able to download a copy of one if you go to the camera manufacture’s website. If your camera is automatic with manual options, please review how to override ALL of your auto-functions, including auto-focus, so you can work your camera in fully manual mode. 2. How to load film or media cards into your camera 3. How to set the ISO/ASA (film speed). 4. How to set your aperture. 5. How to set your shutter speed. 6. Metering modes. 7. Exposure modes. 8. How to focus/Focusing Modes If you registered  for your class through the Sam D’Amico Photography Classes site our meetings will be held at: Affinity Lab 2451 18th Street NW, 2nd. Floor Washington, DC 202. 518. 6181 http://www.affinitylab.com/index.htm The entrance to Affinity lab is located directly to the right of “The Diner” Please arrive no earlier than five minutes prior to the start of our meeting and press the buzzer marked ‘Affinity Lab” to gain access. In the event that a 12-hour/4 week workshop has only one participant registered, the total workshop time will be reduced to approximately six hours in length.

For online classes and individual online tutoring

After you register for the workshop, or we have scheduled individual instruction/tutoring, you will recieve an e-mail with information on how to enter our “online conference room”. The e-mail will look similar to this:
