Yup, I’m once again considering moving samdamico.com to new digs on the web. New look, more functionality.
It seems that every time I get settled somewhere on the web, I learn of a new service being offered that comes closer to my ”wish list” for my home on the internet.
This latest incarnation of ”websites hosted and designed for photographers” seems to be the closest to my dream home on the web that I’ve seen yet.
If you type in samdamico.com in your browser, you’ll still be brought to my location that is hosted by and designed with the tools at Squarespace.com. I’m not leaving there until I’m sure about here.
This new site that you are now visiting is hosted by Visual Society and using templates designed by Graph Paper Press, this site uses the WordPress publishing platform. It’s the free version, hence the url http://samdamico.visualsociety.com/, I’m not going to pay for the upgrade until I’m sure I like it here.
If-when that happens, I’ll pay for the upgrade and point samdamico.com to this server .
I’ve used WordPress before but found it kind of clunky when it came to posting photos and videos, so I stopped using them when I moved samdamico.com to its current location at Squarespace.com which also offers blog functionality.
When Photo Shelter (my e-commerce enable archives) announced they were teaming with a company called Graph Paper Press to allow photographers an easy way to integrate a WordPress blog with PhotoShelter, it was time to once again consider a move.
So here we go again, I’m slowly moving into a new place on the web.
The melding of the SEO kick offered by a WordPress Blog combined with the e-commerce and high-res distribution capabilities of PhotoShelter seems like a combination that’s too interesting to ignore.
From one site I can now manage just about everything. I can easily upload my rights managed stock photography (stored in PhotoShelter) photographs directly into my blog and my home page is in the same place as my blog.
Even some aspects of my photography workshops, except the secure registration area can be managed from here.
I’ll slowly be transferring posts from the old place to this new place. Please let me know what you think of the new digs.
Thanks for reading.
Best Regards, Sam
